01
Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to Surf Fishing App and SurfFishing.app, including the website, mobile web, iOS app, account systems, support tools, and related services that link to it. Your account, profile, subscriptions, and certain preferences may sync across those surfaces because they run on shared backend systems.
02
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect account and profile information such as your email address, username, avatar, password-auth status, social links, subscription status, and support history. We may also collect content you choose to submit, such as catches, spots, fishing reports, hazard reports, comments, favorites, support tickets, fish identification requests, uploaded photos, and related metadata.
03
Location, Maps, and Uploaded Media
If you enable location-based features, we may process your device location or a place you search for in order to center the map, run Bite Forecast, identify your current state for regulations, or optionally improve fish identification context. If you upload photos or submit map content, we may store the files, coordinates, captions, timestamps, and visibility settings you choose; public posts may be visible to other users, while profile visibility controls do not hide content you already made public.
04
How We Use Information
We use information to create and secure accounts, authenticate users, personalize the app shell, run map, forecast, regulation, fish identification, notification, moderation, and support features, sync subscription status, respond to issues, prevent abuse, and keep the service operating. We may also use information to debug performance, investigate fraud or misuse, enforce policies, and improve features over time.
05
Public Content and Visibility
Content you intentionally publish, including usernames, profile badges, map posts, comments, and other public activity, may be displayed to other users and may remain visible until it is removed from the service. Use care when sharing catches, spots, media, notes, or location details because they may reveal where you fish or what you are doing.
06
How We Share Information
We may share information with service providers and infrastructure partners that help us run the product, such as hosting, authentication, storage, notifications, subscriptions, support, email, maps, geocoding, forecasting, and fish recognition vendors. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, during investigations, to enforce our terms, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
07
Third-Party Services We Use
Parts of the service rely on third parties, including Supabase for backend infrastructure, Apple, Google, and Discord for sign-in or platform services, RevenueCat and app-store providers for subscription management, OpenStreetMap or Nominatim for place lookup, NOAA and Open-Meteo for forecast inputs, Fishial and optional nearby-species data sources for fish identification, Resend or comparable email tools for operational messages, and Apple Push Notification service for notifications. Those providers process the data needed for their portion of the service under their own terms and privacy practices.
08
Cookies, Device Storage, Analytics, and Do Not Track
On web surfaces, we and our providers may use cookies, local storage, session storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, store preferences, protect account flows, and measure product usage. We may also use persistent visitor identifiers for features like guest support, guest interactions, rate limiting, and basic traffic measurement. At this time, SurfFishing.app does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals in a standardized way.
09
Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You can control certain information directly through the product, including profile details, social links, profile visibility, notification settings, location permissions, and whether you use optional location-based tools. You can start account deletion from User Settings, and you can contact us through Support if you want to request access, correction, or deletion, or if you have a privacy question. Depending on where you live, local law may provide additional rights, and we will process qualifying requests as required by applicable law.
10
Data Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to operate the service, maintain accounts, support safety and moderation, process subscriptions, respond to support issues, comply with law, and resolve disputes. If you delete your account or remove content, some data may be deleted or de-identified promptly, while certain records may be retained for backups, fraud prevention, abuse investigations, billing, moderation history, legal compliance, or other legitimate business purposes.
11
Security and Children
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, but no internet or mobile service can guarantee absolute security. Surf Fishing App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate legal authorization. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us improperly, contact us through Support so we can review and address it.
12
Changes and Contact
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect product, legal, operational, or security changes. When we do, we will update the Last Updated label above and post the current version through the service. For privacy questions or requests, contact us through the Support route in the app or at https://surffishing.app/support.
